NYFW Recap

Hi everyone!

So as all of you know New York Fashion Week has came to an end, and even though London Fashion Week has just begun, let's take a minute to reflect on all of the historic yet fashionable chaos that was all during NYFW. From falls on the catwalk to controversial dreadlocks to even models overheating, New York Fashion Week 2016 was truly one for the books. Here are some memorable and unforgettable moments if you missed out!

Kylie Jenner's bleached blonde hair

It was only a matter of time until Kylie pulled a Kim K and made a complete hair transformation to bleach blonde as she made her way into the hottest parties and shows. Platinum blonde hair is officially making it's comeback thanks to the Kardashians.

Down syndrome model Madeline Stuart hits the runway

Madeline Stuart, 19 years old, is one of the worlds most famous model's who is diagnosed with down syndrome. She made a return to NYFW walking in the FTL Moda Show and then made her mark in many other shows after such as walking for the Speechless Vulgarity collection, Art Hearts fashion show, and for the Steven Siller Foundation. Not only is Madeline featured in NYFW, but she will also be seen in Tokyo Fashion Week and then in Dubai.

Tom Ford's awaited return to NYFW

After 6 years, Tom Ford made his mark once again during NYFW, with not only leading fashion week but also during his show he made his entire fall collection available for purchase online during the show. Talk about ready to wear!

Kanye West Yeezy Season 4 Disaster

With all of the prolonging controversy about Kanye only looking to include "multicultural" models only for his Yeezy Season 4 show, that was not all. Kanye's show being Manhattan's Roosevelt Island, models and attendees had to suffer through security gates and delays while being under the heat with no shade. Most of those who attended either sat or stood, while models were standing or sitting as Kanye had told them to act completely natural and do what they want. Although doing what they want was not all that happened while one model collapsed and took her heels off, and some even decided to sit on the floor. Needless to say, keep the show's inside.

Bella Hadid falls during Michael Kors show

Famous model and younger sister to Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid took NYFW by the horns and was seen walking down the runway during many popular shows, like Michael Kors. Although during Michael Kor's she did more than strut her stuff down the runway, she face planted. Perhaps it was because of wearing tall heels, but of course Bella Hadid kept going and had the biggest smile on her face redeeming herself. Right on Bella!

Marc Jacobs dreadlock controversy

One of the biggest controversies of NYFW was Marc Jacobs who made his models wear colorful faux dreadlocks during the show, which many thought was inappropriate and an insult to many cultures. Jacob's responded with an Instagram to address the comments critics made about the cultural appropriation saying how people "don't criticize women of color for straightening their hair", and then later apologized for his lack of sensitivity for his comments and the dreadlocks. It's okay Marc, we forgive you.

Ralph Lauren shuts down Madison Avenue

Madison Avenue was dark and quiet until Mr.Ralph Lauren came. Police were road blocking Madison Avenue for the show which was Ralph Lauren's first ever "see now, buy now", which it is exactly what it means. After the show, over 100 items went on sale at Ralph Lauren's stores  all over the world and not to mention online for purchase. Even after the show ended, Lauren let the audience shop around at the flagship store and his new collections were featured. "see now, buy now" was truly embraced.

New York Fashion 2016 was full of new looks, designs, and many other debuts. Needless to say, history was made and now its time for London Fashion Week! I cannot wait too see what styles are featured from designers and to read all of the latest news for these upcoming seasons. Fashion Week is in full effect America!

"There's no crying in Fashion Week!"-unknown

XOXO
